The recent tornado that ravaged Joplin has greatly affected our community, as well as some members of our own body. We praise God that all of our church members were safe through the storm. However, one couple's house was destroyed and some of their other properties were also damaged and destroyed. CWO has been teaming up with a few other churches to help our dear David & Pat recover from this tragedy.
We boldly declare this tornado WAS NOT in any way the judgment or wrath of God. It was a natural disaster. The act of God found in this tragedy is in the hundreds of people ministering to those hurting from the devastation this tornado caused. In our own efforts to help David & Pat we have been the recipients of great giving from many nameless volunteers strolling through neighborhoods offering food and cold drinks to refresh us. This is a beautiful picture of the body of Christ ministering to each other; in the midst of destruction and devastation bringing hope of restoration through simple acts of kindness and generosity. We were recently reminded that though you may feel what you have to offer is as insignificant as a sack lunch of 5 loaves and 2 fishes, when offered to God in a time of need it can be multiplied to fill the needs of many. Please be encouraged to do all that you can to help those in Joplin during this time.
During the months and years of clearing and rebuilding ahead of the Joplin community, we must keep our focus on Jesus as the Author and Finisher of our faith. If our eyes stay in the dirt realm, we will quickly become overwhelmed and disheartened by the sheer vastness of the task before us. God alone is our strength, our hope and our refuge. We pray for supernatural peace and strength to those who lost loved ones and homes, miraculous healing to those injured, and restoration to all who have suffered so much. We ask that God gives wisdom to the city & government officials that the recovery will be efficient and effective, and protection & strength to the law enforcement, first responders & guard troops who serve us and are aiding with the recovery.
